Orbis were delighted to frame Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s Lady of the Woodbank and her Daughters, a triptych of stained glass windows for a traveling exhibition on loan from The William Morris Gallery.
Hand painted by the artist, these beautiful stained glass windows had to be back lit for the exhibition, so we had to make frames that could be slid into light boxes. Composed of leaded glass, the works were extremely fragile as they had been removed from their original frames. The display frames therefore would give much needed structural support and protection, whilst also allowing the works to be displayed easily and securely. To avoid putting too many stresses on the object, we designed a structure that best supported the edges and curves of the glass.
